Today we were up early and ready to hit the road again for our day trip. We were off to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath. We arrived at Windsor Castle and were in awe of this place. They told us that Queen Elizabeth thinks of Buckingham Palace as her office and this as her home as it's her favourite place. Well let me tell you...I can see why. I'd prefer living here as opposed to Buckingham as well. I think the main thing I liked is that this is a working castle. The Queen actually uses most of the rooms and even though we were disappointed that the State Rooms were closed as they were getting ready for a function, it made it more exciting to walk around where the Royals actually do as opposed to more museum style. We got to see Queen Mary's doll house which is no ordinary doll house. This thing has electricity AND running hot and cold water to the bathrooms and kitchens. It's a replica of an aristocrats house. I sure would've loved that as a kid! And it was huge! We then saw the China Museum which houses all the china sets used by the Royals over the years. We saw St George's Chapel where King George VI and the Queen Mother are buried as well as Princess Margaret so we paid our respects to them. Unfortunately we only spent an hour and a half there which was not nearly enough time to explore it thoroughly. But it was enough time for me feel like I had arrived home. Hehehe I always knew I was royalty!
After Windsor we jumped back on the bus to Stonehenge. I really enjoyed seeing this and hearing the commentary. There are many myths as to why the stones are placed there but no one really knows how and why. Very mysterious! After this we were off to Bath. Bath was such a cute little town with its cobbled streets, old buildings and a hint of Roman style too. We visited the Roman Baths. Despite the yucky water (they dot treat it) I could definitely have enjoyed the hot water from the natural springs. It was a tad chilly that day! Today was a big day but it was so nice to get out of the city and see the beautiful country side and hear the stories of this great country.
