Barcelona! Wow what a bustling city! We had a rather relaxed day traveling from France to Barcelona. We stopped off for a quick visit to see the outside of the Sagrada Familia. Let me just say one word.....BREATHTAKING! I know I need some more adjectives but seriously I was in awe! This church started construction in 1882 and is still not completed! It certainly is very interesting. Google it! That night we had dinner at the hotel and it the hay early. The next day it was up and go, go, go! We went on a tour of the Gothic Quarter with Nick. I think I'm becoming an architecture buff! I'm certainly loving the history lessons and would love to hear more! After that it was free time so we headed down the La Rambla strip to check out The Markets. OMG! We found all sorts of interesting things at these markets but the most important thing was the beautiful fruit and vegetables! I'm sure if we could by produce like that at home I'd be a fruit and veggie fan rather than a meatatarian! There were bags and yes I mean bags of snails, all sorts of animal insides, blocks of cheese the size of wheels and of course all sorts of chocolates!!! Anyhoo moving on from there we made our way to a secret place (tip given from Nick - remember he's out Tour Manager) for a bite to eat. Wow! It was a little fairy garden cafe thing. It was soooo cute! There are pictures but it's hard to see. Inside it was like you were sitting in a forest or fairy garden as he described it. After lunch we headed back to the Sagrada Familia to check out the inside of this beautiful building. Here's a tip - get there early! We waited in line for an hour and 10 minutes! The line reached all the way around the block to the back of the church BUT definitely worth the wait! See pictures! We even got to go up the towers and get a great view of the city. Nick also suggested going to Park Guell however we forgot to get instructions on how to get there. All we knew is that there were heaps of stairs. So after some vague instructions from the lady in reception we headed off. We found a park and a hell of a lot of stairs and a hill! Not wanting to disappoint Nick by saying we didn't do it we decided to conquer THE STAIRS! With a lot of swearing from Jacqui and forehead slaps (thanks to the person who got her started on these) for making her do it we made it to the top! Wow what a view! Certainly worth the heart failure to get up there! But wait....we get back to the hotel and doh! Wrong Park! We didn't even get to the actual view we were suppose to. Well wasn't I in trouble then! Lucky we didn't have too much time to dwell on such things as we had to get ready for dinner and the Flamenco show. That was pretty cool!
