Today we left Europe behind and headed to the U.K. I was most excited to finally be heading to the big metropolis of London. But first we had the 10 hour trip to get through. We travelled through 4 countries today. The Netherlands, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. Phew! Imagine that! In one day you can drive from Emerald to Brisbane in one state but in Europe you can actually drive through 4 countries in that time! Anyway we arrived in Calais, France to catch the ferry to cross the English Channel to Dover. This only took 90 minutes. It was the most to beautiful sight to see the White Cliffs of Dover as we approached England. Once the ferry arrived we were back on the coach for the two hour ride to our hotel in London! Woohoo! Driving through the picturesque country of England was just how I imagined it. Rolling, green hills! It was just perfect! We arrived safely at our hotel, checked in and went for dinner at London Pub which is at the bottom of the hotel. It is a cute little place just like you would imagine a London Pub and serves good, wholesome English food! After dinner we were looking forward to a hot shower and warm bed! That was silly of us. This shower is an experience all of its own! The shower head is attached to a long pole which is attached to the taps on the bath tub. So it can't move around. BUT this shower is like a hose that is going full ball and you've let it go? and it sprays all over the shop right? Well like I said this one can't move but somehow manages to spray ALL over the place. You can't move the head at all but no matter where you stand you get water going up your nose, in your eyes, in your ears, in your mouth, the hand basin has water all over it, the towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door is wet, the floor is wet, the toilet is wet, the roof is wet and it has a shower curtain but you cannot tame this shower! I made the mistake of leaving my pjs and undies on the hand basin, they were soaked, my money was wet, the phone was wet! It's crazy! So unfortunately for Jacqui I get undressed and dressed outside the bathroom otherwise everything gets drenched! I find it hilarious that there's a welcoming note on the desk saying after your long journey you probably feel like a hot shower but please do not overflow the tub and flood the bathroom. I'm like are you for real? The only place the water doesn't go is the bathtub. That's todays excitement! Can't wait to explore London tomorrow!
