Bonsior! Well today is Day 3 in Paris but I'm still catching up so back to Day 2 it is. Phew! What a day! So much for the relaxing day we thought it was going to be! We had a little sleep in only to realise we missed breakfast. Oops! So off we went to The Louvre. We stopped in at a lovely little cafe for some brunch. A new observation:
They don't seem to have a personal space issue. I have a bubble around me that you need to keep out of but our beds a close together and at the little cafes you sit very closely not only to your buddy but the people next to you! It's cosy :)
After brunch we went into the Louvre to say hi to Mona! She didn't look overly impressed and you could tell she was so over smiling for the cameras! We then wandered around for a while takin in the thousands if years of history and art. Even if you're not into the art you can't help but be impressed with the building and the size of these paintings. I mean the Wedding Feast alone wouldn't fit in my garage door let alone the house! It was huge! The statues were grand and the ceilings rendered you speechless. Just a quick tip for future visitors - the floors are a little slippery! Try not to slip on the stairs. Don't ask me how i know this! Truly an amazing experience.
After the Louvre we walked up and down some of the nearby streets for a spot of shopping. Beret shopping to be exact. Oh dear what a task! Anyway we walked away with a couple if good ones. Then it was off home to get ready for our Moulin Rouge experience.
Our tour started off with dinner on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. It was our first visit to the tower and it did not disappoint. It was big, huge, massive! And a beauty! We jumped in the lift to the first floor where we enjoyed a set three course dinner. It was really delicious. It rained but it didn't damper the spirits. It was so surreal. To be eating in a restaurant on the Eiffel Tower. It's what dreams are made of.....without the obnoxious group of Australians at the next table though! We witnessed a romantic marriage proposal and sang Happy Birthday to one of the obnoxious Australians. After dinner there was time for a few quick snaps and I mean quick and we were off to the pier for our river cruise.
We hopped on a boat cruised up and down the Seine with a commentary of the sights of Paris. I was shocked to find out that the fate of Paris laid in the hands of one General during one of the wars! He was instructed to blow up the bridges and bomb Paris! Lucky for future generations this man disobeyed orders and we can still enjoy all the history and ambience this city has to offer. Imagine a world without the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame and the Arc De Triomphe just to name a few. Sad!
After the cruise it was back in the bus to Moulin Rouge! A show not to be missed! I don't really know how to describe it to you but the costumes were spectacular, the dancers so talented and for the boys.....plenty of boobs and ass! But it was very well done. Definitely recommend it!
After Moulin Rouge it was time to find our way home! We had to give the address to our bus driver. First problem! Neither of us bought the address with us. Oops. Lucky we had free wifi at the Eiffel Tower of all places and was able to google it. It's a horrible feeling to think you have no idea where your home is in the city! We knew the nearest metro station so that was a little help. Anyway the bus driver dropped us off and we got home ok only to find ourselves locked out! We rang the night bell continuously for about 20 minutes. I was busting to go to the toilet as I hadn't been since we left at 4.30 that afternoon. It's now 2.30am! My toilet phobia prevented me from going on the boat. So I tried sitting on the ground, pacing backwards and forwards while Jacqui scaled the premises looking for a way in. The rain wasn't helping! So in the end I had to find a bush! Naturally there was no bush but a huge bus! I had to do it! So I went to the back of the bus to do my business hoping Jacqui wouldn't walk around the back at that moment. Safe! I returned to the lobby and kept pressing the night bell! Jacqui thought it better to run across the road to the service station to use their loo so off she went. Not long after she'd left the night man woke up and came and found us. Finally after what seemed an eternity but only 45 minutes we were warm and safe in our room. That's it folks xoxo
PS: got to go on the crazy round a bout tonight! That was pretty in eventful. Another observation though: I am thankful for our crazy Emerald drivers cause they have nothing on these guys :D

Margaret Busiko ok, all good so far, well, a few learning experiences, but thats all part of the fun, is it not?
joannethomas Oh my gosh it's so much fun! We just laugh and laugh at our stupidity! Couple of naive ones here that's for sure :) Argh the toilet phobia! It's frustrating cause toilets don't come along all that often and sometimes they are so gross I just refuse to go!
joannethomas Hey Aunty Margaret....how's Nat going? Getting excited?
