Wow! What a huge day! First we settled into our hotel and after much discussion and procrastination we decided to hit the streets! We read three different maps and after acquiring all this knowledge we realised we had no idea and the best thing we could do was.....just get out there! So after a quick chat with the receptionist (who was surprised to hear Notre Dame was in Paris) we thought it best to follow our own directions! She at least could point us to the nearest metro station. Off we went - got a two day metro pass and found our way to the Lourve. We were looking for Notre Dame but figured this will do for now. What an amazing feeling to be standing in amongst that history! Do you think either of us could remember what the purpose of that building was? Nope and guess what?! It's close on Tuesdays so don't worry we'll head back tomorrow to find out! So after some quick pics we figured (or I figured) lets walk on and see what else there is! We come to this smallish arc which Jacqui swears is the Arc De Triomphe! I says na can't be! There's suppose to be the worlds worst round a bout here but this is pretty quiet. She is adamant that this is it and I swear she was wrong! I even tried to show her on the map that it was no where near where we were standing but she stands her ground and insists this is it! Now for those of you who know me, you know I'm NEVER wrong. But being in a strange place and standing under an arc I decide ok righto this is it....very disappointed! I was told you could go to the too and look out but you couldn't get up the top on this one. Anyway after this little discussion we move on and figure we'll go for a walk up to the Ferris wheel and see what else is around. Get to the Ferris wheel and what do we see?!!! Yup you guessed it! The Arc De Triomphe! I told you I'm never wrong! After a ride on the wheel we decide (sorry I decide) let's walk up to the Arc and back down the other side. There's lots of little shops to break up the walk, it won't be too far! Someone shoot me next time I say that please!
We walk up the Champs-Elyees (another place on the map we wanted to go and accidentally discovered we were already there) looking at all the little stalls and fancy shops. We get to the Arc and I insisted on getting to the middle of the road to get a great shot! Safe enough cause there were pedestrian crossings. Jacqui quickly took my photo and took off! But while standing there getting my great shots I couldn't work out why the man on the motorbike was looking at me, not very happily, until I turned around and realised I was standing in front of the traffic lights.....oops!
Anyway I just had to get to the top of the Arc! I was so excited and couldn't wait to see all the traffic on the craziest round a bout! Well no one told me there were a trillion steps to climb first.....in a spiral staircase! There should be health warnings about that stuff! I made it to the top (thankfully Amber's workouts helped me out there) but it was touch and go for Jac! The views were definitely worth the sore legs. And the crazy traffic.....bloody madness! Ok so we made it to the top and coming down wasn't so bad but the walk back to station had us very thankful to see our home!
Phew! Now it's bedtime just as my loved ones are starting their day back at home. Oh a quick shout out to my little brother......Happy 30th Birthday Ross! Love ya heaps! Love you all too and have a great day xoxo

Leonie Chalk Hilarious Jo - loving your commentary. Would love to be a fly on the wall watching you two. Sounds like scenes from Mr Bean's holiday!! Glad you are having a fabulous time.
Bev hale Major landmarks in Paris are like the chimney towers in Mt Isa, as you walk towards them they appear to be on wheels moving in the other direction and one never seems to get any closer. Enjoy.
Ann Vandeplassche Brilliant read Jo. Am loving this blog and am sooo enjoying living vicariously through you at the moment :)
joannethomas Lol thanks Ann! I'll have to get you to edit it before it goes to print! I know the grammar and punctuation is terrible hehe
