Slow train (or should we say plane?) to Delhi.
(Once more elephant picture is irrelevant but too exhausted to take and upload our own, this state of affairs will hopefully improve!)
Despite snow and ice we left London on time only to arrive in Dubai to find we had up to an 11 hour delay though the night. Jo tried all of her winning tactics ranging from the sweet smiles, raging loudly, feigning illness and finally RADA style dramatics to blag a hotel bed for the night. She spoke to any Emirates staff who would listen, before being directed to the ground staff manager (AKA the top man) who was very sympathetic but said he could not be held responsible for the fog in Delhi and would not provide a room for us. So we bought one. A luxury one for 4 hours and it was more than worth it!
Our final hurdle (after a further delay of two hours sat on the runway before departure) was to conquer a major scrum with 350 fellow passengers at Delhi baggage reclaim. The locals seemed to think that barging their way to the front and virtually climbing on the carousel would speed up the delivery of their bags. This was a false hope as the loaders were placing 2 to 3 bags on at a time and then taking a 5 minute rest. Unfortunately, as our bags were at the back of the hold, this meant a 2 and a half hour wait. Almost delirious with tiredness although still in good humour we arrived at our hotel, the TJS Royale (not sure where Royale came from) looking forward to a overcoming the time zone changes and getting a few good nights' sleep.
Apologies for typos...tiny keyboard and tired eyes to blame!

Sue So the adventure has really begun. I love it.
Lorraine So you have arrived safely. Hope you get lots of sleep before your travels really begin.
Tracy Glad you've arrived safe - Jo you obviously had to call on all your wiillow class crowd control tactics!
Charlotte Your entry made me laugh mid report writing and planning so you'll be pleased to know your delay WAS actually worth it. Can just picture the scene in Dubai but isn't the airport SO much better although I did 7 hrs last year and it nearly killed me! Didn't have Jo there to amuse me! Keep up the great commentary. Glad to know we can text. Enjoy x
Mum, Dad, Francesca and Alison We see Jo has already showed her true colours after a whole 5 minutes in a different country. We will be looking out for the wanted mug shot. Hope there are no more delays, xxx
Francesca *sorry for our typo, meant shown not showed. Have been on this computer for hours doing work..... Unlike you, living the dream- almost stress free.
Kate So this is where my family hangs out! Jo & Nicki- Please indulge me briefly.. I'm hi-jacking your blog to say Hello to Ian, Anita, Francesca and Alison!
Jean Glad you're now in the right country! Enjoy your trip. I've not been to the Taj so I'm jealous. Looking forward to your next dispatch............XX
