We set off from home on the morning of May 13th and had four flights - to Auckland, to LA, to Oakland outside San Francisco and then to Spokane in Washington State. Our friends Jannan and Richard picked us up and then drove us for another hour and a half to their house in Pullman. All in all we had been travelling for 34 hours or so to get to our destination.
After a good night's sleep and a leisurely brunch we went for a drive around Pullman and out to Washington State University. The area has all changed a great deal since we were last here in 2001! At WSU we saw grizzly bears that are part of a research program, they are orphaned or needed to be removed from around people and are there undergoing tests from the vet students. We also walked around some of the campus and saw the alumni building which was the old milking barn converted.
We went back to Jannan and Richard's and had a quiet evening eating, drinking and watching a movie on their huge TV.
