On Thursday we experienced firsthand the joys of Bondi beach! We arrived around lunchtime and were surprised at just how dingy Bondi actually is. Despite this, we took a walk down to the beach front and had a little look around and got a photo of the school penguin at Bondi. Even though it was nowhere near as busy as we feared it might have been, we decided to move on and head over to Coogee beach.
Coogee has obviously started to go the same way as Bondi, but luckily it hasn't become quite as popular just yet, and we settled down for a couple of hours in the sun. After a little while of lying on the beach we found a nice little swimming hole to splash around in and cool down. And cool down we did, as the water seemed to have come straight from the Antarctic!
We stayed around for as long as possible before we could actually feel ourselves starting to get a little crisp in the sun, and we had to head back to the comfort of the air conditioning in our apartment. We completed our lazy day in the only appropriate way - with take away pizza.
Yesterday we have been wandering around the city again as we visited Paddy's Market and the Powerhouse Museum, both of which were fairly forgettable. Then it was up to the Rocks to experience some of the oldest streets in Sydney and to get some information on climbing the Harbour Bridge. In order to get some idea of what climbing the bridge will entail, we took a walk along the bridge and up to the pylon lookout. The views from here were pretty amazing, and it was only a short way up the height of the bridge, so we are definitely going to make sure we book ourselves onto the bridge climb now!! Once we were back down, we continued on around the Rocks and popped into the Ken Duncan gallery and found a jigsaw puzzle of the Lion's Den Hotel where we worked back in September.
Today we decided that we needed a rest so we treated ourselves to a lie in and a lazy morning lounging around the apartment, while the folks went for a look around QVB. Tonight are heading over to Toyah and Stuart's place to get our first experience of the many colourful sights and sounds King's Cross and play spot the prostitute!!
