On our way to Switzerland, from Paris, we stopped off in Strasbourg which was a gorgeous little postcard town close to the German boarder so the architecture was a curious mix of French and German.
After enjoying the town for a few hours we continued on to Basel, Switzerland. Basel was just a means to an end for us to get to Interlaken so, as we arrived late in the evening, we weren't expecting to see any of it. When we arrived our hostel gave us free tram passes to the city so we jumped on the next tram and quickly tried to take in as much of it as we could before cooking a very late dinner back at the hostel. The town seemed nice enough and would be a great place to go out at night as the river was lined with young people picnicking and drinking at sunset.
