After meeting up with Jamies dad and his friend Dermot in wellington, being treated to a few meals, walking round nature reserve and driving up Mount Victoria, they decided to come along on the ferry ride with us to Picton in the south island for a day trip.
Picton was a quite little town, probably smaller than deal! weather was on and off during our few days there. we stayed at a great hostel called Tombstone backpackers; it was newly furnished and quite luxurious compared to what were used to. It had a huge coffin door on the entrance which was cool, and even better it had a jacuzzi in the garden surrounded by a thatch fench, was lovely!!
Picton wasnt my ideal place as its mainly for people who like 'tramping' (taking long steep walks)! but jamie managed to persuade me to do a little walk along the cliffs to bobs bay.
After seeing the town there wasnt much more to do, so the majority of our time was spent playing free pool at the hostel, where i learnt how to play properly and banish my method of just whacking the ball and hoping it goes into a pocket! achievement made!
Our next stop along is to Christ Church, which we will be travelling to via the tranzscenic train, which is meant to be beautiful!
All for now
