We arrived mid afternoon from the bus in Tekapo expecting gloomy weather similar to Christchurch, but were pleasantly surprised. It was red hot sunshine! :)
Tekapo, set on the lake, is pretty much a street consisting of a hostel, couple of b&bs, few shops and a bar! The Lake though was absolutely amazing and a was a really strong turquoise blue colour that you couldn't take your eyes off! I got a bit carried away with the pictures as you can see but i'm not sure if the pictures do it justice enough.
Lake Tekapo is also meant to be great for stargazing too due to being quite high above sea level and very little light pollution but unfortunately it was cloudy for both nights we stayed there.
We didn't do too much here really, relaxed a lot, played cards and hung out with people form the hostel. We met guy, Colin, from England who got us even more excited about doing a skydive. He had done one recently and he showed us his video from it!
The last night here our whole hostel (all 8 of us), a mixture of english, dutch, german, american and israeli went to the pub (there must be a joke there). A good night to end before we head off to Queenstown!
