On the 24th we went off to pick up the hire car and drive a nice few hours - 5 to be precise up to Agnes Water - a small town on the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. It was dark by the time we hit the town so it took a while to find the Motel. Our unit was massive a whole apartment to ourselves with kitchen dinning room and lounge!! Luxury.
On the 25th we got some provisions in and headed off to explore the surrounding area's. We headed off to the Town of 1770 - this is where Captain Cook landed in 1770. Very quiet town with lovely little beaches dotted around the head land. We had a nice walk up the head land to view a crashing sea and then spent the afternoon on the beach sunning ourselves. For dinner we headed to the BBQ area near enough on the beach in 1770 and cooked ourself some beautiful fish and watched the sun go down. The fish was gorgeous!
On the 26th we headed off to the Town of 1770 which had its own yearly festival. We had planned to go on a cruise out to Lady Musgrave Island but when we woke at 7am and it was raining we thought it would be cancelled and not very nice in the rain. It was small festival with craft stalls, live music and aussie food - sausage sizzles galore That night we stayed in and watched some films.
