We pack up check out and head off in the hire car for a visit to Jean Laffite swamp. It's a half hour drive and we're early so stop for some lunch Jacq gets the chicken gumbo soup - spicy sausage chicken and rice - Matt gets a beef poor boy which resembles a roast beef dinner stuffed in a bread roll rather than the typical poor boys we've seen, regardless it's tasty and we find the swamp tours after a call to check the postcode which is 5 miles short!
It's an online offer of $19 each for a tour reduced from the usual $29 and we jump aboard the bug infested boat for our 90-minute trip. We head down the river in search of Alligators and manage to see quite a few and some Turtles, we get great knowledge of the area and its inhabitants from the tour guide. This area has been used on TV shows quite often such as NCIS New Orleans, we can see why, it's just like something out of the movies with its river shacks and marshy swamps we're half expecting Shrek to jump out and order is to get off his land.
After a great trip we head into the airport dropping off the car with Alamo. Our flight leaves at 6pm and there's a two-hour time difference when we get to Seattle airport at 8.30pm Seattle time and check Uber for cabs. It seems Uber has contracted airport pickups to the more expensive and luxurious Uber fleet our typical cheap Uber x cars aren't available, so Jacq suggests we walk out of the airport and check as the cab fare is a $25 difference, low and behold 10 mins later we have Uber x online and get taken to our hotel the inn at Queen Anne for a mere $20.
We check in and drop our stuff off, it's fairy spacious no frills accommodation we have a double and a single bed bathroom and kitchenette and it's in a great central location with a view of the Space Needle as we walk out the door. We find an Irish bar (moths to the flame) around the corner called Hughes and grab a quick beer getting tips from the locals on where to check out. Apparently, we're right in the old grunge district with a cafe called Meccas around the corner where Nirvana and Pearl Jam would hang out and get some late-night grub after a gig - you can guess where we're going!
So, we head to Meccas it's like a cool dingy diner with lots of colourful characters and we grab a couple of beers and sandwiches - it's a huge feed as it comes with sides of chips too so we box some up for tomorrow. Shattered we head back to bed to start afresh tomorrow :)
