We get up and decide to start packing to leave tomorrow, we're flying with Alaskan Airlines and as our bags are getting pretty heavy we've decided to check in two cases.
Afterwards we head into town to check out Bourbon Street one last time stopping at an authentic jazz bar housing an amazing jazz group - the pale, fair haired, blind, Louis Armstrong sytle singer & pianist alone is unreal!!! We grab a southern comfort at an extortionate $9 each and sit listening to the band for an hour.
We then move onto the Irish house based in St Charles street sadly we missed a live Trad band but there's a mini session on the go and we sit and enjoy although they aren't the friendliest bunch - it's quite a clicky Irish community, unusual as we've not come across that before.
We move onto the stunning Columns House built in the 1800s, it's like walking into someone's home back in the day - it's literally decorated in the style of 1800s Louisiana with high ceilings and a columned front porch - it's a beautiful Mansion and also a hotel facing the tram line ideal for our next visit to stay we think! As we sit in the lounge a gentleman is playing to a small crowd on his guitar singing classic old southern songs his guitar skills are amazing!
We sit until the end and head back to the little bar in Matairie for one before and early night is had - big day tomorrow we've booked a swamp tour before our flight!!
