We lay in shattered and venture out in the car around 2pm to check out the town. We walk around the French Quarter again, down streets we'd not seen (it's so big!) and grab some food in a local cafe Jacq tries another traditional dish called po boy boudin - it's sausage meat wrapped in batter stuffed with rice - really tasty! The big day is here! So excited about jazz fest!!! We get glammed up in beads, silly glasses and badges and head off by cab to the festival. The queue is a breeze and we shoot in straight to the food stall to sample some proper jambalaya - it's beautiful!!! We grab a cab early and head back to the airport to grab our car booked for 4 days with Alamo rentals - they offered a great deal much better than Avis by throwing in a lot of the insurance coverage for free - Avis wanted an extra $27 a day for that privilege - thieves! It's an early start, we haven't managed to sleep and we fly out at 7am arriving at 8.30 New Orleans time. The flight was only 2 hours and it's only a 2-hour time difference, we grab an Uber cab to our motel in Metairie and thankfully she lets us check on early at 10am - after 24 hours of being awake we crash out and get up round 5pm.
