We get up around 10am get packed and head out for one last wander around the streets. We find a sports bar next door to a tattoo shop Matt has booked himself into.
We have a few g&ts and Stowford Presses before heading into the parlour. Jacq has found the Thai translation for "journey" and it feels the most fitting as our journey only felt like it really started after the China experience so, Matt gets "journey" in thai on his wrist and has some of the lyrics for the foo fighter baseline on his arm written. It's a total of 2500 bhat (£50)
We then head back to the bar and have chicken noodles booking all our ferries and accommodation for the islands. Matt finds an Internet cafe and we print off the trip confirmations for 20 bhat. We pick up our luggage at the hotel and grab a tuk tuk to the station at Hua Lumphong for 300 bhat.
Arriving 2 hours before we depart we decide to stop at the noodle bar opposite for a couple of drinks with big before we go - we of course have to see Bob again and he is in great form, flirting away with Matt who seems to enjoy it a little too much. He explains he works there 6 days a week 12-12 for 5 years. We can't imagine what they would do without him so many people come just to see him in action. He is himself a tourist attraction of sorts!
We say our goodbyes and head for our train, it's a big rickety old thing but it's comfortable and bug free! The recliner isn't amazing but we have a couple of hours' kip and arrive at Champong at 6.15am.
We then get picked up by a stoned (off his face and still tugging on the joint) local and are carted onto a "bus" one might expect to see in Jamaica housing chickens or other livestock - it's great! We meet our ferry for a 3-hour crossing - shattered and sea sick. Bloody Bob and his noodles…..
