Having left Derby, we headed 'south' towards the cold, harsh conditions of Broome (Broome's actually more west than south, but south nevertheless).
As we had visited Broome on a previous holiday, as well as hearing some mixed reviews from fellow travellers as to what Broome is like today, we decided to check in for a few days with no real intentions of doing anything, but as we know Bec just can't sit still so we;
- Decided to, with fishing lines in toe, kill a few hours at the Broome wharf. Wasn't really expecting to catch anything as the time/tide was wrong, so was not so upset that we didn't! (but will be back later to have a proper crack, and no doubt will probably leave disappointed then)
- Packed the webber (and what seemed like half the caravan) and headed off to Cable beach for an afternoon of swimming, fishing and just relaxing on the beach whilst we cooked and ate dinner as the sun set out over the ocean.
- Tried to catch up with a few old mates from a previous visit to Broome. Although we were succesful in catching up with Khan, it seems Apollo D9 was nowhere to be seen. We where told by a local that Apollo was probably in the paddock, but Cooper was sceptical and quipped that he was propbably sausage meat by now! (for those wondering, Khan and Apollo were the camels we rode on our previous visit to Cable Beach). Oddly enough, we were having camel sausages for dinner that night ???
- Brought Bec a belated mother's day present of a photography tour/course where she will get personally tutored by a professional photographer whilst visiting local sites in and around Broome. (and no, the present was not the result of negative feedback or to improve the quality of the pictures we are posting on the website............although they should improve!........no pressure!)
PS. Broome seems much the same as before, with Cable Beach definitely a place one should visit in their lifetime.
Speak soon.
