So it's now 2011 in the Land of Oz and what a year it's been thus far.
New Year's Eve was a typically confusing affair, with Howie wanting to do one thing and me wanting to do another. In the end, we watched the Glenelg fireworks on the beach, and at midnight we had tried to get into every bar in Henley Beach without paying, but had ended up in Copenhagen ice-cream parlour eating a slice of mars cheesecake(with free ice-cream that Howie blagged for us). All in all it may not have been 'wild' but it certainly was delicious.
A couple of days ago we cycled up to Port Adelaide, which is about 12km up the coast. There's a market there on Sundays so we perused said market and I managed to get a copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for $2, which kept me going for all of... 24 hours. I was silly enough to read it on the beach yesterday and got rather engrossed, only to find that although there was a prevailing south-westerly, the sun was still ridiculously strong and I burned both of my legs in the process. Today, I have aching joints and muscles, with a very fuzzy head: this could be down to the sun, it could be something completely unrelated, but it feels like flu. It's horrid. Either way I have well and truly learned my lesson and won't be silly enough to go and sit on the beach for two hours mid-afternoon.
Howie has been all 'back to business' since getting back from New Zealand, what with all of his website-type work. He's currently working very hard by sitting on the beach in his deckchair. I just sincerely hope he is wearing a hat.
