G'day all, we're back in Oz again after our awesome trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud and it's 40 degrees here at Henley Beach.
It was a very long, very tiring journey home from New Zealand; on our last evening, we met up woth some of Howie's friends who were living in and visiting Christchurch. Needless to say, the ale did flow, and it meant that we missed the last bus to the airport and had to get a taxi there instead. After bindling Howie into the taxi, we got to the airport at 1.30am and weren't flying out until 6am, so we slept - ever so elegantly - on the floor of Christchurch airport. Howie slept face-down for a full three hours, and I managed to get some snatched slumber between telling various people who were talking very loudly to shush.
We got our flight, anyway, and arrived in Sydney at about 8am local time. Our flight to Adelaide wasn't until 5pm (how annoying) so we had time to burn. We both managed to get a little bit more sleep on various chairs and floors around Sydney airport, and finally managed to get back to Adelaide in one piece. Then, inevitably, Howie's bike had a puncture (of course!) so we had to walk to a petrol station and pump that up before cycling back to the old abode on Henley Beach. Needless to say, we both slept very well that night.
It's New Year's Eve here now, and while Howie is up for a 'pumping club' to bring in the new year, I would be happy with Jools Holland in the TV and a good book and going to bed at 00:05. As a compromise, I believe we are planning on going to the fireworks either in the centre or at Glenelg. Either way, it will very soon be 2011 for us and 2010 for everybody at home, which is a disconcerting thought.
