Day 1 - 8 March 2018
It was close to about 8 hour flight from Singapore to Melbourne. On board the flight, I had wanted to catch some sleep but somehow wasn’t able to. Krisworld became my entertainment and I caught two movies back to back. We arrived at about 6pm.
The initial excitement and the much anticipated joy of travelling with my family turned into nightmare when Emma realised that she did not bring her driving licence with her. I felt lost at that moment, knowing that there was nothing much we could do about it. My mind was even thinking of ways where we could change our itinerary entirely; one that doesn’t require a car as a means of transport.
Thankfully, Emma remembered that Xiaowei and his family will be coming to Melbourne the following day. Praise the Lord. She quickly texted Xiaowei to do us the big favour of helping us to collect her driving licence from our place tonight, and then bringing it to Melbourne for us tomorrow. And his response was positive. Yeah! We will be collecting the driving licence from him tomorrow in Melbourne. Well, another good thing that comes out of this boo-boo is that we actually will save on car rental for some days.
We took a cab from Melbourne Airport to Best Western Melbourne’s Princes Park Motor Inn. After we checked in, we spent some time setting up SIM cards stuff before heading out for dinner.
MacDonald at Barkly Square - comfort food seemed to be the best option, at least for today. After dinner, we went to Woolworths to buy some groceries - breakfast for the next couple of days, water, fruits, coffee etc. We then took a slow stroll back to Best Western.
The actual fun begins tomorrow. We turned off the lights at about 1030pm, ready to rest our tired bodies and all looking forward to embrace Melbourne’s attractions and the family time together.
