Day 8 - 15 March 2018
Somehow, 8am was the default waking time. We had home-cooked breakfast, got ourselves ready and left the house at about 10am.
We headed towards Australian Rainbow Trout Farm which was about an hour drive from Stonehill. It was a fishing farm and our family tried fishing for the first time. Emma and I are both not big fan of fishing but for the experience, we were both willing to learn on the spot and give it a go.
The guy taught us and advised to practise at a more “difficult” pond. We did and after gaining some confidence, we went to the smaller pond and fished. I tried but failed. Emma tried and by a stroke of luck, she managed to catch one fish. It was an achievement for her. The best part was, we barbecued the fish and ate it. It was a nice family experience.
Next, we headed towards Grants on Sherbrooke for lunch. By the time we drove there, it was 130pm. We were easy on our choices so long as we filled all our stomachs. After lunch, we also fed the birds. Within a restricted compound, the parrots were flying very close to us as the people carried trays of food for them. Some of them even perched on our shoulders and suddenly, you wondered what would happen if you move an inch. Haha. Anyway, they were harmless and we got out of the area after about ten minutes.
Our last destination was at Lillydale’s Lake where there is a nice recommended playground for the kids. It was about 315pm. Without any time constraint, we let them explore the playground. We also took some bread to feed the ducks. The kids had a great time, throwing the bread and seeing them feeding on them (or could it be more like seeing them fighting over them?)
We left Lillydale at about 445pm and drove for about 45 minutes before we reached Stonehill. We cooked dinner and just enjoyed the evening together as a family. After dinner, we took a stroll just outside the house and took some pictures as momento that we once came to this beautiful part of Yarra. It was DVD time again. Tonight, I chose not to work as it was our last night together. We finished the show and went to bed at 930pm.
I love this trip. And I am sure that Emma and I will miss the time that we get to spend with the kids from morning till night. And we are very sure that our kids’ sentiments are reciprocal as well. Good night, Melbourne. We are flying back tomorrow and we shall see you some time again. Signing off.
