Alice Springs - wednesday 20th April to Monday 25th April.
After a beautiful trip from Uluru to Kings Canyon and through the Macdonnell Ranges we arrived in down town Alice Springs.
We have been using our time in Alice to regather and get a few jobs done. Took a trip to Coles and stocked up on some food...posted school work and tax documents back to Sydney (Max has now officially completed Term 1)...and caught up on some washing.
Visited the School of Air...which was really interesting. Got to watch a teacher give a Year 2 lesson (to three students). While they all sit more than 1,000kms from each other...It is amazing how IT brings them together with their teacher.
Roy did a didgeridoo workshop...it was quite amusing. Thinks he can now play it...but I'm not convinced.
Caught up with some friends we met along the Oodnadatta Track. Enjoyed a few glasses of wine and laughed about how "frugal" we had become.
Today we went to the Alice Springs Races...not quite the up market event of Randwick...but a hoot all the same. Unfortunately I couldn't back a winner and was convinced the same horses were coming out every second race. The jockeys were heavier and the horses looked lighter. Roy had a win on the last race...and we all left very happy having had a terrific day.
Tomorrow (after the Easter Bunny has come) we plan on heading out to Trephine Gorge (East Macdonnel Ranges). It is supposed to be really beautiful. On Monday we would really like to go to the Dawn Service on Anzac Hill...hopefully we all wake up in time.
Just over three months since we left home. Some updated statistics for us to look back on.
. The boys have had their hair cut once (no haircut for met yet).
. Two trips to the hospital (both times for Max).
. Max has grown out of his boots. Archie has grown out of his jeans. And if Roy and I keeps going we will be outgrowing our jeans.
. Car has been washed twice.
. Food is the biggest expense.
. Max still resists doing any school work.
. Archie is riding his bike well...up out of his saddle (despite having his bike run over by some women in the campground...not looking where she was going).
. Have travelled approximately 9,000km.
