Meikles Adventure
Woke up to some camp manager come down to our campsite to tell the backpackers near us to leave – pretty loud he was too. About 20 people complained Sach said later – they were pretty bad though & also due to fact that they were pulling tree branches down around them for their fire – silly fools!
I knew it must be father's day coming up but we have no calendar, my phone is telling me its 4 Jan 1970, no internet or phone for last 2 weeks – so by 8 or 9 or 10am (no watches either) when Sach was told by Tenille that it was father’s day – well it was not the greatest start to the day. We made up for it a bit but it was a bit of a doomed day from the start.
Went to Zebedee Springs 1st off – hot springs in an oasis spot – just magic. I didn’t put my cozzie on before I left camp today so didn’t get in (only thought we’d be heading out to Emma Gorge to start with) – we all got a little wet though, some more so than others! Lots of people, each little pool on the way down was practically filled with groups of people. Tenille & Jaz got chatting…
Next stop Emma Gorge, 1st went in to Emma Gorge Resort for a drink and little snack before undertaking the gorge walk – 1.5km each way I think it was.
Little time after the heat of the midday sun that we started to walk up. Tenille did not start off too well but she started to enjoy the walk a bit after time had gone by, just learning to notice more of the things around her than her own worries about how long the walk may take before we’ve begun, after we’ve started and every foot she stepped thereafter for a little way.
It was pretty hot to start but got a bit of cover as we got near the end. On the way back it was much cooler due to the setting of the sun and she walked most of the way back without complaint.
A bit of an odd night on camp – tomorrow off again to a new spot – not too sure where at the mo but think its just towards the 1st town – Kununarra – to have the airconditioner fixed – the dust in the car is about to take over the items!
Showered with girls at the very distant amenities block this evening and Sach and girls in bed for a while already now – now 8:50pm and I’m thinking that might be the place to be right now – think so – how our time has changed with this whole travel routine thing – early up in the morning – generally crack of dawn we get up & pretty early to bed most nights!
