Meikles Adventure
Waking up next to a Salt Lake in WA – very cool. Everything a bit misty/foggy. Very different from our arrival here yesterday afternoon when the light was bouncing off of everything.
We have driven today from the Salt Lake to Israelite Bay. We were heading bck past Israelite Bay to try get somdewhere nice to stay that night... Driving along ... Beach & we got bogged pretty badly on the beach. Sach drove on some soft stuff and tried to save us on a side bit, but unfofrtnately that was even softer and the Beast just bottomed out. This after a very
rough day driving through “bulldust” after a bit of rain – a slipping and a sliding everywhere! No animals (ie no camels), we did see some roos & some birds & some plants. We came up pretty close to some short stubby trees trying not to drive through the slippy, slidey “bulldust”. We drove out to the beach on …, a few bays almost surrounded in headlands. A beautiful place, we are now camping near the water on our return trip from bypass trip to … Beach. We got a tad bogged on a rough sand patch and ended up putting up the tent out here on … Bay after Sacha winched the car out with a couple of tyres buried in the beach sand & then the trailer next using the car. A bit of exertion I tell ya! So here I am sitting listening to ABC Radio, all else in the tent for the night (think its gonna get cold possibly(?!)) Look at these photos – missed the important “winching out” on camera again but it was all quite interesting! Big fire again – we need it, cold out in the big outdoors at the moment!
Can hear the sea again tonight – hope it doesn’t come up this far ever! To dry dishes & put anything away & go to bed – it might rain tonight – hope sleeping is ok tonight – don’t think so tho in our little tent, wish we hadn’t got bogged if it rains, oh dear!
