Drove from the side of Eyre Highway "P" sleep spot after a very rough night's sleep I must say! Hugging onto Tenille just so I wouldn't end up sleeping on a very hard Nullarbor floor. It did make us get up very early though, Sach was up and had a fire lit already at +-6:30 I think! Cold and frost on all surfaces, no wonder it was such a freezy feeling night, I do not believe I slept too many winks. We did not end up seeing too many things other than the roadhouses on the Nullarbor, and other than being veeerrrry expensive and there seems to be a lot of passers by - gee grey nomaders, take on the world - a very easy trip indeed for us though & lots of travellers about! We went for a shower at Balledonia Roadhouse (very civilized indeed - really not what I was expecting) before taking on the rough towards the coast on the Balledonia Road to Esperance (supposed to take up 4-5 days to do from what the book says). The road wasn't too bad to start off with, but about 1:30pm new WA time (2 or so hrs back from our early morning start as well), we saw some undies on a fence and lots of bushes and not one animal, a bit of a rocky road in parts, lots of corrugations. After seing a few rock formations we stopped off at a salt lake about 80 or so km into the trip, just into Cape Arid National Park. Tenting it for the night, hopefully we can sort it out a bit warmer tonight! Meat from the fridge & leftover chips & things from our recent & very expensive takeaway food trips to the Roadhouses en route to our current destination. Another brilliant fire, wood just lying everywhere around us tonight - each place and the things we see, just so very transitional along the way! Cold and the girls had been playing since we arrived - just do not feel the cold though. Jaz will so often end up with most of her clothes removed - I just could not function freezing my butt off as often as she gets around with not much on. She refuses to put anything "else" on other than if it is really getting pretty freezing. All cold tonight and Tenille & Jaz went to bed together in the tent (with me to start off with of course) after we'd had the heater with generator on for awhile. Sach & I sat around the fire for awhile & then u guessed it - went to bed too...
