Day 74
Another cold, but sunny beautiful morning. We left Haines Junction Yukon and headed out for a short 2 hour drive to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory's capital. More than two thirds of the population of the Yukon Territory live in Whitehorse (population around 27,000).
We stopped for gas and breakfast at Glacier View Restaurant. Good American breakfast in an Asian restaurant. Great hot tea.
We are camping for two nights just outside of Whitehorse, at Mountain Ridge RV Park. Got set up, then drove into town to explore around. Went to the Visitors Center, saw their film about the Yukon, got some info on hiking trails (for tomorrow).
We had a lovely dinner at the Wheelhouse right on the Yukon River. They specialize in fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We split a nice salad with maple dijon vinaigrette. Michael had grilled arctic charr, over quinoa with spinach, tomatoes and parsnips; I had wild mushroom stuffed chicken breast over asparagus risotto. Complete Deliciousness.
