Up, through breakfast buffet and off for Delos tour. 30 minutes boat ride from
Old port. Our guide was very good, a historian and archeologist. Delos was an incredible place in its hay day. 30,000 people. Saw the town and it's mansions with verandas and mosaic floors. The sanctuary to Apollo was huge. Countries even had their own "clubs" to stay when visiting. The lions were almost anticlimactic at end. Just decoration of the Beirut club. They have preserved the treasurers in a museum next to site. Quickly walked through cause writings were not in English. I think we are getting ruin weary. Some historical stories we have heard at least 3 times now. Can I remember The victories at Marathon and Seleme this time? Van ride over to Myconian Spiti "traditional Lunch" was very crowded and a bit harrowing I don't think we should rent a car. The lunch over met my expectations! We sat outside on a shaded patio. 3 other young kids from New Jersey. Interesting conversations with them. A psychiatric nurse, chemist for Colgate and a worker for Wawa stores. 1 guy and 2 gals that just love to travel. They had an Airbnb in Athens and day Tripped to Mykonos. Left Athens and 6 am and return at 10:30. They were headed to beach for rest of the day. Lunch started with wine! Greek salad, sptnikopta, GEMISTA!! ( I had 2) spinach risotto, roasted lamb in orzo w tomato sauce, tzatiki. For dessert the host brought yogurt with sweet cherries and sweet grapes. She said that all Greek Ladies make sweet cherry and grape. When you go visit a house the lady will give you a spoon full( for good luck? Not sure why). The host was so gracious and nice. Goodie bag when we left. I would recommend this tour w lunch to anyone!! Surprised it was not full. Fun transfer back to the hotel cause we were on other side of the island. I immediately went swimming. Hot day again. Our hotel pool is nice. Crowded today. Many more at our hotel than Friday night. Caught 7:30 shuttle to town. Browsed throughly the quaint alley ways of Mykonos town. I did not understand that it is such a maze. We arrive at the waterline and it was pack with people waiting for sunset. We finally sat down at a random restaurant that still had tables. Our good luck still
Follows us...we had perfect sunset views. Sun turned a gorgeous red. Santorini better get its game on to beat this beautiful site. My view was across Rick and Grant and up to the windmills. Couldn't believe restaurant was not full. I finally had fresh sea bass. The waiter took me over to " pick it out". Grant and Rick had gyro. My fish was perfectly prepared and surrounded with sautéed carrots and zucchini . The lemon olive oil poured on the dish was magnificent
