Up early again for excursion to Lindo Acropolis . Tour guide is soft spoken like a college professor. We are some of the first buses to arrive. Walk through town but none of the shops are open. Up many many steps to reach the Acropolis. Views down to the coves on either side are so so pretty. Now I can’t remember which side of Acropolis I spent the day on my college tour. Really getting ruin weary. “ whose temple?”“ what time period?” yawn yawn. The views are what make this one stand out. As we walk back down I purchase a cute linen table runner with blue Greek symbols from a lady selling along the path. Paid too much but oh well I love it. The town has opened up and come alive. Streets are now very crowded with tourists. The guide told us to not miss the Byzantine church on way down. Funny cause even rick and grant had to put on wraps around their shorts. Chapel was awesome! The floor looked like a carpet but was pebbles on their side ( short side) with colors in a design to look like carpet. When I bought postcards I also bought a sesame honey treat. Yum!! The guide told us that the town shuts down when tourist not around. Makes it seem so unauthentic. Streets were narrow like Mykonos. We are done early so made the climb back up to bus instead of using shuttle . A little hot and tiring but not too bad. Oh my! The tourist have arrived. Buses are lined up everywhere and up the street. Guide said 10-12,000 people a day depending on how many cruise ships. We only had 2 ships today. 40 mins back to town. Quick city tour through one of the gates of the old town walled city. The defenses also had 3 motes. Persians could never over take them due to the fortitude. They even had clay pots fill
Of angry wasp they would throw over the wall. A little hunger games to me. We walked down the main road that had the house from all the other countries that traded here. At the end of the tour the guide gave us many suggestions of things to do. Walk the wall, archeological Museum, large bazaar or beach. It had gotten very hot and on the way to the public WC we ran into our group again waiting for the bus ( we had decided not to ride bus back to ship but stay and have lunch) we were hot and tired . Got on bus back to ship to cool down and have lunch there. Sat with nice couple from Montreal. He was in construction and they flipped houses. They were getting off boat tomorrow and staying in Crete. Went back to cabin and Grants says “ I’m so tired”. We all ended up sleeping all afternoon. 6:00 am wake up and 8,000 steps by lunch is exhausting. We missed exploring Rhodes but it’s ok. Rick and I went to the bar and tried several of the Greek liquors on the list. One was sweet and fruity . The other was cinnamon cloves and nutmeg. Both good. Slowly showered for dinner and tried to look nicer. We arrived dining room at 8. It was full till 9. Suggested we go to the Captians Cocktail party. We stood in line to have our picture taken with the captain then sat in the “muse Lounge” till almost 9:00. They were suppose to introduce the senior staff . I was starving so we left for dining room. Music was good, a trio. Sat with an older couple From Athens at dinner. He had his worry beads. I asked him how to play with them. He said there is no set way. Everyone has their own. His granddad and dad both had worry beads . Just a stress reducer for men. To the bar for a night cap of that cinnamon liquor Ethan off to bed.
