Picked up by a prearranged taxi at 8:30. In our way to Piraeus to ride in the Celestyal Olympia to Mykonos. Not much to remark. After lunch we camped out in the Horizons lounge which is the circular lounge on top. Most people were sunbathing and taking advantage of all the activities . The ship is about what I expected. Outdated yet functional as a cruise. Most people are smiling and happy to be there. Cruise director said there are 23 nationalities represented. We peeked down the hall to our cabin. It's at an end of a Hall. Did not get to see inside. 6 hours later we arrive in Mykonos. Not what I expected. It's very barren and brown with white plaster houses on hillsides. 10 minute ride to our hotel San Marcos. It is as isolated Isolated as I read. The room key activates the air conditioning . Our room is burning hot. Room is minimal with only one small window. I tried to upgrade with no luck. We headed to the bar cause can't stand the hot room. By the time we had relaxed and had couple of beers, we were ready to go to town..... we had missed the shuttle. It was 7:45 and shuttle is 7:30 or 9:30. We decided to eat at the hotel. The restaurant ended up being very nice. Outdoor patio with candle light and beautiful Sunset views. Menu was expensive. Entrees 25 euro and starters 18. Rick and I had the seafood linguine and Grant had the salmon on couscous. Wine was a delicious Sauvignon Blanc but can't read anything on label. It's Greek. WiFi is bad. Can only barely connect in lobby. Weird cause the rooms are not that expensive. $200 if book early yet the food and drink is very expensive.....like they are out of position. We may be shocked at prices as we go to town.
