Woooaaaahhh!!! Four days to go!!!
The finishing line is within touching distance now! :)
Had another good week at work with plenty of hours again. It's not been as full on as I was expecting.. three of the days we worked till 5pm and the others we finished earlier. It has been much warmer too.. still cold in the mornings though.
An interesting situation occurred at work on Thursday. A few of the lads found something in the paddock where we were working and left it in a bucket for someone to find.. that someone was me!!! It was a dead Black Red Belly snake!! I can't repeat my outburst when I saw it but I'm sure you can guess there was a few four letter expletives in there. I didn't know it was dead at the time so I was quite shocked and it didn't half make me jump.. much to the amusement of the lads. It must have only died the night before, probably from the cold or poisoned from something it had eaten. I've never touched or handled a snake before so I thought I would give it a go since it didn't have the chance to bite me.. felt very unusual! We left it in the back of the truck whilst we carried on with our work but I kept going back to check it hadn't moved.. haha paranoid or what! I got my own back on the big Estonian lad though.. I dangled the snake over him whilst he wasn't paying attention which totally shocked him much to the amusement of me this time! Haha :)
Two of the lads from Denmark and Chile left the farm on Friday and a couple of Germans replaced them on Saturday.. I'm still the only one flying the flag for England on Barbera Farm!
Managed to get four gym sessions in after work this week.. two decent ones at the start of the week and two really good ones on Thursday and Friday with finishing work earlier than usual. Will probably only be able to get to the gym twice next week with having to do my laundry and packing.. I'm going to miss it when I leave and it's going to be hard to maintain my level of fitness whilst travelling around again.
Worked on Saturday from 8am till 2pm then went into town to do a bit of shopping. Came back to the hostel and cooked myself a chicken buriyani for tea which was really good. Most people from the hostel went down to the creek and then onto Central but I stayed disciplined again and saved my money.. I've got bigger fish to fry! I'm waiting to spend my money on something worthwhile.. like next weekend - MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!! BOOM!! :)
It's official.. I am definitely leaving on Friday morning the 27th May. I'm heading to Brisbane for the weekend with four lads I met over the past twelve weeks from the hostel. There is Rich from South Wales, Leighton from Nottingham, Ricky from Newcastle and Matt from Manchester who happens to know a few of my friends from back home.. seriously small world!! We all plan to travel up the east coast together apart from Matt who is heading to Sydney on the Saturday to start a job.
I'm really excited about the weekend we have lined up.. we've bought tickets for a club night at Bar Soma in Fortitude Valley on the Friday night where Robert Hood is DJing.. can't wait for my first proper club night in Oz getting my groove on to some Detroit minimal techno!! :)
We are planning a trip to the cinema on Saturday whilst recovering from the night before and we have bought tickets to watch a Super 15's Rugby Union game between St George Reds and Canterbury Crusaders at the Suncorp Stadium on Sunday. Dan Carter and Quade Cooper will be playing on either side.. arguably two of the best number 10's in the world so I've been told.
Really, really can't wait for next weekend now.. it will be the perfect reward after 88 days of hard farm graft here in Stanthorpe.
It will be back to being a backpacker again after next weekend travelling from place to place. We are just in the process of planning it all out.. but birthday weekend in Brisbane is the next move!!
Just down at Cosmo's at the moment for my final visit before I leave.. mocha, strawberry milkshake and some grub it is for me again. Will probably go for a run this afternoon and then plan our route up the east coast some more.
Four frikkin days to go!! Soooooo happy and excited!!!! :)
