This past week at work has been much easier than the previous one.. on every level. My body appears to have adapted to the work I'm doing without it aching anymore, the weather has been cooler, the hours shorter, and still had two days off.. Wednesday and today.
I was given some extra work on Friday other than pepper picking.. lifting tomato buckets onto the back of a truck. Not exciting at all but it was good to have a change and it's much easier work.
Every meal I've eaten over the past two weeks has had green pepper in it with the amount I keep nicking from the farm.. my speciality being Portuguese chicken with rice. Had it several times already.. yum!!!
I plucked up the courage to tell the big boss of the farm, Vito, about my plans to go to the Grand Prix in two weeks time. To my surprise he said it wouldn't be a problem and that I'm welcome to come back afterwards to continue working if I wanted to.
So now I have to weigh up what I want to do again. I've been offered more harvest work further north up the east coast in a place called Emerald which is due to start in May. After the Grand Prix I can either continue working my way up the east coast from Brisbane throughout April and arrive in Emerald in time for the start of the harvest work or I can come back to Stanthorpe to continue working here.
Finished work at 10am yesterday morning so that meant we had the rest of the weekend off. Came back to the hostel to sunbathe for the majority of the afternoon and had a kick around too.. I broke a garage window!! Ooops!! Told the owner and he was sound about it.. phew!
With having Sunday off work I could have a good drink and a late Saturday night out in Stanthorpe again. Headed down to Central for a couple, then over to O'Mara's and back again to Central where we met up with the rest of the people from the hostel. Wasn't as good a night as last Saturday but still a good laugh nevertheless.
Been sunbathing this morning/afternoon and just waiting for my laundry to finish now. Curry for tea, then an early night ready for the early start in the morning.
