We've had quite a busy day and took loads of photos, so thought we better update the site now. In answer to your question about milk Jayne, they're Holy animals, so I don't think they would like it if you tried to milk them! Saying that you can get beef in Goa, as it is a tourist place. Also I am changing colour a little. At least the local beach sellers have stopped calling me white chicken now!
After the last blog we walked to the dockside and found the fish market. Loads of great shrimp, but we have nothing to cook them on/ with. Was great watching them unload the fish and bring them to shore in canoes! Graham then found that night that our favourite bar has WiFi, so it's even better now! Saves us a bit of time sat in the internet cafe (and money).
Yesterday we took the moped up to Keri Beach. It was really quiet up there and great for swimming. Had a great drive up there, but through some really poor villages where people were bathing in buckets outside and living in tarpaulin houses.
Today we got up really early for our big trip to Old Goa on the moped. This meant going through a large town and the capital of Goa to get there. There were some pretty hair raising moments, but we made it. The hire people gave Graham a crash helmet, because of the police, but would not give me one, as they said it was not needed! Graham did really well, keeping it together even when trucks were coming at us on our side of the road! We even saw some roundabouts today, but no-one seems to give way to the right, or to anyone. They come at you from all directions! Whilst in Old Goa we saw lots of Catherdrals, as the majority of Goans are Roman Catholic, due to the Portugese rule. There are some really impressive buildings there. We also went into the archilogical museum and portrait gallery. The churches were all free. but we had to pay 14p each to go in the museum!
As the sun started to get really hot, we decided to head back home and to the beach. We were going to find some Spice Plantations, but figured that would be outdoors and it was just too hot. Might go to these when we come back to Goa in a couple of weeks. On the way home we overtook a moped , and the passenger was carrying 4 trays of 24 eggs on each tray. Still getting used to the amazing things you see on a moped. Most families use them like a family saloon, Mum, Dad, 2 kids and all the shopping/luggage on one bike! So. we went to Ozran Beach. Our usual sunbeds werte all taken so we moved further down the beach and found the 'famous' carving in the rock (See photos). We've been looking for it all week!
I'll sign off now as we're going to head back to the bar before bedtime.

Ian Imagine not giving you a helmet - cheeky b*****s. I bet you'll both miss that moped when you have to give it back! Are the curries better than in UK restuarants or are they completely different? PS. Like the photo of the face carving on the rock, the buldings look quality!
Maggie Hi Ian Well Graham's crash helmet really was useless anyway. It was like a tin basin which did not fit properley, not did it fasten up, so would have fallen off! Non of the Indians wear then at all really, I think they are just strict on the tourists in the city, as they know they can make money out of them! Curries are great, and much better than at home. Loads of really good vegetarian choices (more veg than meat) and sooooo cheap. Plus the naans are non greasy, so you don't feel too full like after Indian in UK. They like to put soft cheese (like mozarella) in a lot of the curries too, which tastes great.
steph Hey, sounds like your both having a fab time..Great piccies..Been bloody snowing here again!!
jayne Gosh, that moped is doing some miles. I can picture you both on it with the wind through your hair! I am concerned you didnt get a helmet although their is nothing worse than helmet hair so not to worry and clearly the people realised that you were the safest driver! lol no offence Graham. Shame about the cows, a milkshake sounds like it would have cooled you both down. :) njoy! x
