We started early and headed downtown on the transit. We had bikes booked for the day and Imogen was overjoyed to find that me and her were riding a tandem. We cycled north along the Lakeside Trail taking in wonderful scenery including the fabulous skyline and beautiful lakeside beaches where Imogen had a paddle. We visited the free Lincoln Zoo in Lincoln Park where a polar bear posed quite gracefully for us.
We then locked up the bikes and walked along Navy Pier before picking up our Segway tour. Once again, Imogen was in her glory, she'd been asking all day why we couldn't wear flip flops today! We travelled along the lakeside and through some very affluent streets before rejoining our bikes.
We had an hour's rental left so we cycled back to lakeside where Imogen and I removed our shorts (!) and climbed down the ladder of the massive swimming pool named Lake Michigan for a bit of a cool down.
Nick decided it would be better to stay and look after the bikes and take photos (Imogen said he was a wimp!)
We've had a very long day in Chicago, Imogen has just fallen asleep (something she NEVER does) and we are enjoying our first bottle of wine since leaving home.
Tomorrow - we pick up the car and head on out to get our kicks ...
