We had the pleasure of sleeping over at the Read's home and spending he day with them today - made all the more exciting by meeting the beautiful baby Josiah for the first time (although he's not so much a baby and at 10 months old is already walking)!
We went to some parks for a run around in the morning, stopped for lung and naps, then up to the memorial park and butterfly house for the afternoon.
The views from the memorial were amazing. You could see the beach at morecombe bay and the howgills over Sedbergh.
The butterfly house was fantastic, and watching Josiah hunt butterflies was too cute. My children were only interested in the fish though.
There was also a walk through aviary and a 'mini beast house' done out like caves with tarantula's, geckos, cockroaches and so many more bugs. Obviously the children were fascinated whilst Jen was cringing.
Finally we stopped for tea and cake before heading home with some thoroughly exhausted children.
Although not technically in the lake district, you can find our Lancaster photos in the album marked 'the lakes'.

Alice Hi, As a Lancaster local I'm glad you thought so highly of the area. If you'd like a souvenir of the area I think you should have a look at these phone skins, with designs of the area by a local artist http://www.thinkskins.co.uk/chas-jacobs they have one of the Ashton Memorial (I have that one for my phone!)
Thinkskins Sorry to Gatecrash but wanted to thank Alice for mentioning us! I have an alert set up so i know if the company is mentioned and its good to get feedback! We love Lancaster, hence working with Chas!
