The bright lights and wild nights of Baga: Our first few days in India were spent in Calangute, Goa in a basic but charming little hotel near Baga beach. Hectic would be the word to describe this area; the streets were crowded (to the point of being dangerous to walk down) and the beaches were packed with local people who shamelessly took pictures of us at every opportunity. That said it was the perfect location for New Year's Eve when the place, and specifically the long stretches of sandy white beach became alive with bonfires, music, firework displays which would put London to shame, tight-rope walkers, dancers and more locals taking photos!! Spectacular, spectacular!
