The train from Venice to Naples was about 5 hours so we arrived at our hostel in the late afternoon. We went for a little wander around before getting dinner and some sleep. Naples isn't the nicest/cleanest of places but was a good base for us to visit other places during our stay, plus our hostel was very nice!
On our first full day we headed out to Capri by ferry and enjoyed the 45 minute boat ride in the sun to the beautiful island. By the time we got there it was lunch time so we had some food looking over the harbour. Finally, we'd made it to a beach and relaxed there all day in the lovely weather! We caught the ferry back around 6 o'clock and walked back to our hostel, stopping at a supermarket on the way for food for our home/hostel cooked dinner.
The hostel owner was really helpful in giving us information for all the day trips and train details so on the day we were checking out we headed to Pompeii on route to Sorrento (bags in tow, which we dropped at the luggage storage in Pompeii). The train was rammed and very hot so not the nicest of journeys but luckily it wasn't too long! Pompeii was really interesting to walk around and quite surreal too. After some lunch at the cafe there we made our way back to the train station.
We caught the train to Sorrento - let's hope the lovely hot weather holds out!
