Our plan to leave Florence early didn't work out so well when all the trains to Milan were full until 3 o'clock. We passed some time in a cafe before catching the train and once we'd arrived then spent over an hour waiting to book a seat for our next journey, to Marseille. After a lot of hanging around we eventually arrived at our B&B about 6 o'clock! So we went straight out into the city centre to have a look around and find somewhere to eat dinner. The buildings there were really pretty and the ceiling of one of the designer shopping mall's we went through was amazing! Outside the Cathedral, the Duomo, there was a music event on with a choir singing and later, while we were eating our dinner opposite, an orchestra playing. It was really nice to sit outside with the view of the Duomo with a live orchestra!
We woke early and enjoyed breakfast outside on the balcony, the owner was really friendly and staying in a B&B was a nice change from the hostels. We headed out to the centre again and wandered round the shops and to the historic centre of Milan. As our train was at 1.10pm we got a quick lunch and then went back to collect our bags.
Although Milan was only a short stop I really enjoyed it! The city was lovely and the Duomo is definitely one of the most interesting cathedrals we've seen, especially with the event going on outside.
We then make the 8 hour journey to Marseille!! Unfortunately the weather forecast isn't looking like beach weather as we'd hoped but is a good stop off point before Barcelona (our last place!!)
