Our first day in Bled was relatively sunny and warm so after breakfast at the hostel we went for a walk. It was about 4 miles around Lake Bled which only took us a couple of hours. The lake is set in the mountains with some still snow capped, which made it look amazing. Definitely a good photo opportunity!! In need of some vegetables we made our own dinner and had a relaxed evening in the hostel. As it was the busiest hostel we'd been in yet it was quite nice just to sit and talk to other travellers.
Day 2 - As the weather in the morning was a bit dodgy we didn't rush to leave. Although it was very windy we decided to venture to the Vintgar Gorge which was about a 3km walk from the hostel. Luckily just as we arrived the sun came out so it was worth the trek. Unfortunately, the majority of the pathway along the gorge was closed but we still managed to make the most of the beautiful scenery.
After some leftover dinner for lunch we then decided to visit the Bled Castle which overlooks the lake and town. For €7 you could enter the castle and visit the museum which although it was good, wasn't really worth the money - the views were still amazing from outside the castle. We had planned to go out for dinner but after a lot of walking we were both pretty tired so got a takeaway pizza and had an early night.
Up early for our next train to Salzburg!
