MONDAY 19TH FEBRUARY 2007 - TUESDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2007

GOT THE FERRY TO PHuket & decided to stay in Karon/Kata 'cause its apparently quieter & nicer. Got there n it rained most of the day. This only added to the dreariness of the place! we were not impressed - just like bein in a spanish holiday resort - full of sunbeds, parasols, Germans & swedes. The beaches were the busiest yet so hard to form an unbiased opinion but felt they were kinda spoilt. went to a muay (thai boxing) in the evening - was miles better than in chiang mai. there were 9 fights including two international fights - one being an aussie who was suorisingly good & beat the thai guy! decided to stay an extra day for the mardi gras so spent the day on the beach. Got our diving underwater pics developed which were not impressive - my underwater skills def need sum improvement! Went to the mardi gras which was the biggest disappointment of the trip so far - just a small gathering with a bit of music & ridiculously overpriced drinks. we didnt stay long & in true Manc style went to the 7/11 instead bought some beers & wine & drank in the guesthouse lobby! stylish or what! Glad to have left Phuket - was just a busty town that we didnt care much for.
