WEDNESDAY 7TH FEBRUARY 2007

After managing to persuade kym to double back on ourselves we headed for Khao Yai National park, near Pak Chong which we missed the first time round. Its supposed to be the best national parks in Asia so I thought it was worth doing. And it was!Even Kym, after her inital doubts was well glad we made the effort. We were umming and r ing about whether to do a trip out of Bangkok or do it the proper traveller way-all on our own using public buses!Ending up doin the latter and saving a wad. Found a guesthouse near the park which did trips.Chose the 1 and a half day option. Half day- Drove through sugar cane fields, mango tree planations stopping off to swim in the waterfall, a bit of bird watching yes i did say bird watching!) and bat caves. Finally we watched 2 million or so bats emerging from a cave to go hunting. A non stop tornado-like stream of bats. The guide -Joe was full of info! On the way back he lined us up in the road in formation so the bats thoughjt we were trees and flew inches away from us.

THURSDAY 7TH FEBRUARY 2007

Full day- Left at 8.Stopped off a few times whenever the guides spotted something in the trees. They were incredible.maging to spot little things in tree 300 mtrs away. squirrels,parakeets,eagles,great hornbills. Later we stopped and trekked into the jungle.Felt like big kids running around after gibbons in the trees! was mint!At one point there was this barking noise coming from the trees behind us, the guides face dropped and say oh s***, and started running!Obv we all panicked and followed him as fast as we could. Turns out it was just a harmless barking deer and he was winding us up!b******!

In the afternoon we swam under the waterfall which was in the 'Beach'.not that impressive to be honest. reckon they must have used camera tricks to make it look bigger.still wouldnt fancy jumping off the top tho!Got back on the truck and went looking for elephants.saw loads of deer and macaques that came up close to the truck but unfort no elephants.was a great 2 days and even the once dubious kym was well glad we came
