WALKED AROUND AND GOT THE mrt around Singapore. Took a trip to Orchard rd which was bustly then went to the botanical gardens & walked round them. Were massive so didnt go round the whole complex cos it was way too hot but the bits we walked round were beautiful. We then went onto the quays which we both loved - even if they were overpriced. Definitely gonna come back here when we're lder, wiser & have bigger wallets!
WEDNESDAY 28TH MARCH 2007
First we went to Raffles Hotel for the famous coctail "singapore sling" that was invented there. At $8 it was an extortionately priced coctail but it had to be done.Gaz liked it. I thought it was ok but a bit sweet. Raffles bar itself was nice - felt like an old barn - wasn't all hoity toity as one would imagine. From here we got the MRT TO hARBOUR fRONT & THEN TOOK a trip on the cable car upto Mount Faber which had fantastic views then right across to Sentosa island which was a tourist magnet. Was fairly nice but just packed full of attractions such as dolphin shows, an artificial beach etc - not the best when your on a budget. In the evening we went on a night safari at the zoo. first got a tram around the park with a guide & we hopped on and off to do some walking trails too. Saw every animal possible & it was r. cool seein all the nocturnal animals for a change. Saw some flying squirrels which were impressive as they can jump the length of a footie pitch -was quality. Went and watched a live show with animals that was good. It was all tastefully done. At one point she asked for a big strong muscular man for assistance with a snake - Gaz got chosen to his horror and had to go on stage & hold the snake. The crowd went mental when he said he was from manchester - all cheering and clapping - he was like some mini celeb. Then after the show had finished he got his 1st taste of true stardom when a Korean girl who'd studied in manchester (michelle) came and asked for a photo with us both "OH MY GOD I WAS JUST SOOOO HAPPY WHEN U SAID YOU WERE FROM MANCHESTER - I CANT BELIEVE IT!" She had us laughing for hours - was really comical.
