THURSDAY 15TH FEBRUARY - SUNDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2007
1ST IMPRESSIONS OF PHI-PHI were v.busy, overcrowded n expensive. feels v.westernized. took a walk to long beach on day 1 which took about 45mins n involved sum clambering over rocks but was well worth it. much nicer beach and sea than in ton sai village where we're stayin. 2nd day we went and did a fun dive. gaz did 2dives but i got seasick after the 1st so didnt manage the 2nd lol :) Visibility was 20m and there were masses of different types of fish which was awesome. The coral was also really bright - much better dives than Vietnam. Gaz saw turtles too on his second dive which he didnt shut up about ;) Gutted i didnt see 'em. 3rd day we spent on the main beach in ton sai village but to be honest we should have gone back to long beach 'cause it was really dirty & the tide was out all day. Was a real shame 'cause apparently it used to be one of the best beaches in thaliand but it had seriously been ruined by tourists. 4th day we went on a boat trip around phi-phi. went to maya beach (where the film the beach was shot). It really was beautiful. The sand was the whitest i've ever seen and the sea the clearest - the only thing spoilin it was the hoards of visitors! We then went to monkey island too which was q.nice then onto bamboo island which was spot on! there were v.few people on the beach - it was heaven. u cud hear the waves lapping on the shore - was lovely - the only downside was when Gaz got bit by a fish snorkelling lol! Moved onto bottle cove where there were loads of monkeys. Gaz reluctantly fed one as did others. when we all got back on the boat the monkeys circled usn started making noises n baring their teeth. i was a bit worried but Gaz wouldn't even look at the monkeys! he really suprised me but he did have a point in that u shouldn't trust wild animals - i just would have been more worried keeping my back to them! met 3 Brits onboard who gave us lots of good tips bout OZ and NZ.
