Well we are back off our sailing trip and still swaying! Everyone got hit quite badly with seasickness which i have never had before and it wasnt pleasant! Well the trip was interesting!!
The boat, Prima, wasnt the nicest, a little run down and our cabins with ensuites were the tiniest rooms you have ever seen we couldnt really both fit in the bed!! Anyway the people on our trip were lovely, 3 swiss girls, 2 austrian guys and 4 of us english! Our first day was a bit bad as it rained all day and being cooped up inside wasnt fun, but on the second day it was amazing! The first evening they dropped us at a 'resort'. It wasnt all that great as it was full of really pervy men who were doing maintenance on it, but we got to walk on the beach and have a swim so it wasnt to bad. The first morning we woke up and went to Whitehaven Beach, which is the 2nd best beach in the world. It was amazing we did a small bushwalk to see it from above and then went down for swimming etc. The sand is 97%silica which is the closest form to glass, apparently if you put the sand in a pot and put it on the stove it would turn to glass. You are also able to polish silver with it and take scratches off your glasses with it. Very nice! The rest of the PM was spent sailing around sunbathing, a little snorkelling although due to king tides at the moment it wasnt great! In the evening we went to a lush resort, it was amazing! We got to use a hot tub, hot showers, a pool with a bar in it, pool tables etc! We also did a trivia quiz thing and won one round, against 2 other teams. Our name was the Prima-donnas. Back to the boat and we stayed up quite late chatting on the deck. My geography is getting better, and i have learned all about switzerland!! Today we went to a small beach although it wasnt sandy, it was a dead coral beach so not a sunbathing beach and then back to the Marina. It was slightly scary yesterday as there was a tsunami warning for the whole east coast! Our skipper has only had 1 before in like 20years!! Luckily he said also that because of the reef it would diffuse alot of the hit and so wouldnt be that strong. At the moment the tides (King tides) are just very very high.
We made friends with a lovely english couple on the boat and are going to keep in contact. The only downside to the trip was the bedbugs!! eek! I did freak out a little bit but we are going to let our booking agent know. So now we are heading down south towards Rockhampton.
