Drew's birthday is the 28th, however his party was on the 27th. Quite a few friends traveled from Scotland, Liverpool. London and Brisbane, so Saturday it was.
Once again I missed my opportunity. Chery's and Clare had given their speech before I thought to video the speeches. I only managed to film Keiths which was very clever.
Of course, Ches included a description of Drew's birth at the height of the Brisbane Floods in 1974, which was news to most people. Clare recalled meeting Drew at Artarmon Public School in year 5 and how he aspired to join her "cool" group of friends. She and Dinusha (who he met when she and he were in a production of "Twelve Angry Men" when in Year 11), have remained close friends all these years. Clare brought he house down when she said that she had given Drew the nickname "Drudge Drewdy".
Prior to the party, I took Lee on my regular walk aroudn the city walls, and we were able to see the party venue in daylight with actually some blue sky. The God's House Tower is a spectacular venue. Beautifully restored and from the top of the tower there are magnificent views of all the carparks that service the cruise ships and Isle of Wight Ferry. It was also bloody freezing on the top of the tower. Inside ... I wore my coat all night. No one else had an issue with the temperature.
I'll post a photo album of the walls and party.
