Teaching has been fairly relaxed for the last couple of days...
On Tuesday we taught one lesson in the morning to the oldest group who got through a considerable amount!! In the afternoon we were taken to a meeting at Bankai school where 8 of the local schools joined to discuss up and coming events.... i.e. scout camp and the 4 day sports day next week!! (were there is to be a falang volleyball team)!! Sophia and Sarah two other AVs were also there with their school, and after the meeting we kidnaped them in our pick up and went for a BBQ on a camp fire at a lahu tribe school!! There was pleanty of thai beer to go around supplid by our headmaster and some really tasty fish which they had just caught by their hands in the river!! It was a really fun evening and the teachers were hilarious!! Susie is delicious when she laughs......??! On the way home we were driving along when our driver momentarily stopped for a whisky as we passed his friends who waved us down..... before getting back in and carrying on.....!! We then stopped again when a car appeared to be stopped in the middle of the road with flashing indicators..... we were told the driver was "dizzy" so one of the people in our van got out and drove him home!!
Wednesday was teachers day!! All the teachers went to a ceremony in Ma ai in memory of the kings sister. Everyone had to wear white or black Most of the other AV's were also there!! Although we didn't understand pritty much all of the service it was a very interesting experience. We were taken to a noodle bar for lunch where Fran got chilli in her eye but the food was delicious!! In the afternoon we went to Mai Sai for a huge market there....!! The teachers baught far more than us however but we tried some interesting thai dishes!! And had some incredible roti's!! We went very close to burma infact we were at the immigration office!! The journey back was interesting as always stopping off on many occasions at peoples houses for fruit and water. We also stopped at a food night market and got some pac choi for the road..... we dropped sarah and sophia back at their school and finally collapsed in bed!! On opening our door I saw 5 gecos scuttle across the walls..... luckily we have mosquito nets.....!!
