My Big Adventure
This morning we had an early start as we headed for Australia Zoo. So after breakfast we took the short walk to Hotel Jen where we caught our bus to the zoo, stopping on the way to look at the glass mountains. When we got to the zoo we walked around seeing all the different animals. The zoo was lovely and really gave you the impression that the animals are happy and cared for. We had the opportunity to stroke the kangaroos and koalas and saw the crocodiles in the Crocoseum. The legend of Steve Irwin definitely continues at this zoo. Ever since watching the Crocodile Hunter Diaries as a child I have wanted to come and visit the zoo and now I have managed to do this. From the zoo we caught a Mystic Mountains bus to Montville, a quaint village in the mountains, selling craft items, chocolate, sweets and ice creams. We explored the village and the views of the Sunshine Coast. The favourites included the waterwheel, fudge shop and the clock shop. We also had an ice cream from Monty's of Montville which was so very yummy. At Montville we joined back with our original bus and headed to the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve where we got amazing views of the Glass house Mountains. The Mountains were named by Captain James Cook as they reminded him of the glass kilns from home. After we had admired the views we took a short walk through the rainforest looking at the fig trees, vines and the red-legged pademelon (little wallabies). Where I spotted a mum with her little joey. We then jumped back on the bus and headed back to Brisbane to the Hotel Jen and then walked to our hotel to get ready for dinner. We had dinner on Queen Street before heading back to our hotel to pack for the penultimate time before heading home. I can't believe that our time in Australia has almost come to an end!
