My Big Adventure
Today marks our last full day in Sydney and Australia and what a day it was! We got up and dressed and walked to the Quay for some breakfast. We then went to try and organise our jet boat but it wasn't open so we went and did some souvenir shopping instead. After buying up most of the shop we took the 99 steps back to the hostel to drop off our purchases before taking the 99 steps back down to the harbour for our jet boat ride. We booked on the OzJetBoat and got kitted up. Taking off our shoes and socks and anything likely to fly off or get damaged if they got wet. We then had to put on a giant waterproof (that looked a little like a painting apron with a hood) and our life jackets. Then we were good to go. The boat trip was brilliant from start to finish. We did so many turns and swerves that at some points you didn't know which way to look and as all this was going on we had views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The wettest and probably most fun part of the trip was the power stop where you go really fast and then do an emergency stop causing the front of the boat to go down and the back to go up. When this happens all the water spurts up and goes over the boat. This was great apart from when the water came up and then went inside my hood and straight down my top and trousers. As well as the thrill side of things, we were also given a guided tour on the way. All of this was tracked on a go-pro and the images put on a memory stick so we look forward to seeing these when we get home. Once the ride had finished we got off the boat and took off our waterproofs only to discover that both of us were totally soaked! So we walked around the harbour in our drenched clothes to buy some lunch and then we ate it on the quayside. After lunch we caught a ferry to Watson's Bay and this gave us the ideal opportunity to dry off and get more views of the bridge and Opera House. When we got to Watson's Bay we wandered around and then jumped back on the ferry to Manly Beach. When we got to Manly we walked to the beach having a look in some of the shops on the way. When we got to the beach we watched the surfers catching some waves for a while before taking a slow walk back to the quay. On our way back we looked in a couple more shops and I might have bought a new hoodie (oops - just thought I'd let you know this now Gem and Ads so you don't moan at me when I get back!!). When we got to the Quay we had an ice cream and then took the ferry back to the Circular Quay. When we arrived at Circular Quay we bought our last souvenirs (lots of shopping today) and then had some dinner looking out at the harbour. From here we walked back to our hostel where we caught up with home and packed up all our belongings ready for our flight home tomorrow!! I can't quite believe it's coming to an end but can honestly say I've had the most amazing time and totally love Australia.
