My Big Adventure
This morning started with an early jog along the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a couple of stops along the way to take some photos of the view as well as a couple of selfies to prove I had done it!! After the run we had breakfast on the terrace and then headed down to George Street to catch the hop on hop off Sydney Explorer bus. The bus took us through the main areas of Sydney from The Opera House to Central Sydney to Kings Cross (a rather dodgy area from the sounds of it) to Oxford Street and Darling Harbour. And of course not forgetting Hyde Park. It seemed a little odd as we were being driven around to hear such familiar place names in a different location! But it was interesting to hear the similarities and differences between the doppleganger streets. Our first stop on the trip was the Sydney Fish Market which was amazingly busy and bustling. The size of the some of the crabs and lobsters were totally amazing and the idea of eating them seems almost impossible. From here we 'hopped' back on the bus and headed to Kings Cross and the listed Coca Cola sign to change buses so we could head on our tour to Bondi passing the Centennial Park, the cricket stadium and Bondi Junction on the way. As we came down the hill from Bondi we could see the sea and the bay opened out in front of us. Upon arrival in Bondi we stopped for a picnic lunch in the gardens and then went for a paddle in the sea before meeting our cousin Jodie. The sea was surprisingly cold but despite that we still had to have a paddle! When Jodie arrived we started our guided walk from Bondi through to Bronte Point via Tamarama Beach. The walk was lovely and so very picturesque but catching up with Jodie made the day even more special and worthwhile. When we arrived back at Bondi beach we said our goodbyes and headed for the bus stop via a couple of lovely shops which I could have spent a fortune in as I do love the clothes here - not that this really comes as a surprise as I do love a hoodie and a tshirt!!! Thankfully I saved my money and left the shops without spending a penny. When the bus arrived we headed back to Central Sydney before changing buses to get our final bus back to Circular Quay. While on the bus we saw the sun setting over the bridge. After today and exploring the other parts of Sydney further we realised how lucky we are with the location of our hostel - so thanks Gem and Ads for the handy travel tips! When we arrived back at Circular Quay, we headed to the fish and chip shop and bought some grilled fish and chips, which we then ate in the Quay overlooking the Opera House! From here we headed back to the hostel via the 110 steps and relaxed before bedtime and another packed day tomorrow!!
