Spectacular place. Undertook an arduous walk down, up and thru the gorge following a trail. Had to keep going as we got suckered in by a story about a son who got lost in the bush and how his father found and saved him. Subsequent chapters were located throughout the walk!

This was established in 187? by the German Lutheran Order who tried to convert the blacks to a 'better' set of beliefs. However they were well-meaning and a key factor in preventing wholesale slaughter by the settlers. No sleep possible with nearby music being played loudly to 4am, followed by barking dogs till 6!

We took Frews Track out of Davenport Ranges which saved about 40 km's but was very gnarly, very rocky and very steep in places. We made it so we felt very smart! Stayed at Ti Tree CP. which was chockers by late afternoon.

First night in Whistleduck Creek campground. No water in creek but quiet and peaceful campsite. Second night at Old Policeman's Water Hole campground. The Frew River is dry but the waterhole has water. Great spot to camp. Have decided to spend a few days around Hermannsberg and Finke Gorge (near Alice Springs), before heading east on Plenty Highway.
