Have booked in for a week at Howard Springs which is 25km's from Darwin. That's as close to Darwin as we could find accommodation!

Today did not go as planned! After leaving Edith Falls, the Nissan began to act up - display suggesting a problem with the 'diff lock'. Called Nissan who arranged for the car to be towed to dealer in Darwin. So much for the plan to visit Butterfly Gorge and Douglas Hot Springs! However, we were heading to Darwin anyway, so little time will be lost. We bundled a few things into my car and are staying at Adelaide River tonight before heading into Darwin tomorrow....

First 2 nights in the main campground - good shade and excellent facilities. Very hot during day - need to do walks early or late. In between the plan is to relax in the shade! It seems to be working as we're very relaxed. Relocated to Edith Falls campground early on the 3rd day and did the main walk late in the day.

Katherine is a prosperous and growing town. It has both a McDonalds and Red Rooster! We met up with Brian & Maureen who are about to visit Kakadu before heading west. We have applied for permits to travel to and camp at the national park on Cobourg Peninsula. It is booked out until 17 July but fingers-crossed, we can head up there shortly after. There's plenty to see and do around here til then - Litchfield, Kakadu, Darwin etc.

Nice camp backing onto Elsey Creek. Superb dinner of barramundi with entertainment by a local lass with a great voice singing all the old favourites. Not Steve's cup of tea but was mine certainly mine!
